Is there a promising future?

Me and my boyfriend love each other to death. but im starting to wonder if a real future together is realistic. he comes from a very conservative family and i come from a very open minded family ( im an army brat, and we moved a lot). he wants this white picket fence idea of a family and i just want my family to be open minded and not like tiny little robots. i don't mind his idea of a family, i never had that so it could be cool. i just want my kids to have their own identity. there are some differences, but we both are generous and caring (me a little more than him in some areas) we love kids, and we're both christians and get along well. is this enough for a promising future? i know we will have to compromise, but im not sure how far he'll go.
