Why did Mahatma Gandhi say if christians followed the teachings of Jesus,Then all of India would be christians?

It seems that He's saying that all christians do is talk the talk and don't walk the walk. I've seen it with my own two eyes. Like how they read and live by a book(the bible) that says Love Everyone Equally...then they go picket or protest against someone???
