Cracking around outside windows -how to repair?

my father has ..ugh,,,aluminum siding on his house..he also switched from wood windows to vinyl..which i also hate..on the outside i see cracks and chips around the windows..how do i repair this?..its vinyl windows with the aluminum around it..when i see those old new england homes with the fake vinyl pickets fences..i go ape!.lol..hate vinyl..my father took off cedar singles for this aluminum junk!
