Is this considered a response?

I filed papers to establish papernity.... 3 weeks later my ex filed and served me with the same papers i filed except hers were asking the court to deny my papers... Is this considered a response? Is so does that mean i dont have to file a default and i should call to see if there is a court date set? Or will i recieve papers in the mail?
